For the film 'Blue Crush'—an Imagine Entertainment production for Universal Studios—April brought in $16 million in tax incentives for them by being the first to take advantage of Hawaii’s newly passed Act 221.

The deal in turn gave Hawaii the rights to use Universal's film clips, trailers, press kits, and star interviews for their own tourism marketing—a precedent for a studio cross-promoting the location of its shoot.
